Joan found a flowering Viola reichenbachiana (Early Dog-violet) at Talybont on Usk - the first record for that south west corner of the hectad. It does flower early, but not usually that early. Trivia: What is the connection between this plant and Sherlock Holmes' famous falls where he fought Moriarty? Probably that the plant was first found in that area. |
